Importing Valves from China to Africa: A Buyer Guide

Reguvale Engineering Team · August 3, 2026

African projects increasingly source valves from China. Knowing the documents, lead times and quality checks makes importing straightforward — and avoids costly surprises.

Customs Documents You Need

Typical import set: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, ISO 9001 certificate, and material test certificates. Some countries also require a quality inspection certificate at origin.

Lead Times to African Ports

From Tianjin: Dar es Salaam ~25–30 days, Mombasa ~28–33 days, Lagos ~30–35 days. Factor in port handling and customs clearance when planning projects.

Quality Checklist

Before shipping: verify size and pressure markings, seat material certificate, shell/seat test reports, and that packaging is seaworthy (wooden cases, desiccant). Ask for photos/videos of the actual goods.
