If your project is an oil & gas pipeline, refinery or tank farm, the tender will often specify API valves. This is a per-product certification with fees and factory audits, which is why many factories offer it "on request for qualified orders".
CE / PED — Legal Requirement for the EU
Valves placed on the European market generally need CE marking under PED 2014/68/EU (for pressure equipment above certain limits). It is a legal market-access requirement, not an optional badge.
