Wafer Butterfly Valve

Concentric · DN50–DN300 · PN10/PN16 · Lever Handle

Reguvale's wafer butterfly valve is a concentric rubber-seated valve designed to be sandwiched between two pipe flanges. It is the most compact and economical butterfly valve design, ideal for on/off isolation and light throttling in water, air, HVAC, irrigation, and general industrial services.

The valves shown feature a ductile iron body with epoxy coating, SS304 disc, and EPDM seat for water and air up to +120°C. A nylon-coated lever handle with locking device allows quick 90° operation, while worm-gear operators are available for larger sizes or buried service. The through-hole wafer design fits between ANSI, DIN, JIS, and BS flanges without special hardware.

Standard sizes DN50–DN300 in pressure ratings PN10/PN16 are kept in stock for fast shipment; custom body/disc/seat materials (SS316, aluminum bronze, NBR, Viton) are available on request.

Reguvale wafer butterfly valves – factory overview and product details.

Key Features

Compact & Lightweight

A wafer butterfly valve weighs a fraction of a gate or globe valve of the same size and takes up very little face-to-face space, reducing installation cost and pipe support requirements.

Quarter-Turn Operation

90° rotation from fully closed to fully open in under 2 seconds with a lever handle, or smooth controlled operation with a worm gearbox.

Bubble-Tight Shutoff

Concentric rubber-lined design achieves Class VI bubble-tight shutoff against water, air, and compatible fluids when properly selected.

Flexible Actuation

Available with manual lever handle, worm gearbox, electric actuator, or pneumatic actuator for automated on/off and modulating control.

Wide Compatibility

Body materials include ductile iron (epoxy coated), SS304, SS316, and aluminum bronze; seats in EPDM, NBR, Viton, or PTFE for different media.

Low Cost of Ownership

Simple construction with few moving parts, replaceable seat, and no regular lubrication needed makes lifecycle cost very low.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a wafer butterfly valve and where is it used?

A wafer butterfly valve is a thin, lightweight valve that sits between two pipe flanges and is held in place by the flange bolts. It is used for on/off isolation and light throttling in water, air, HVAC, irrigation, and general industrial services where space and cost are important.

Can a wafer butterfly valve be used for dead-end service?

No. Because the valve relies on both flanges to clamp it in place, one side of the line cannot be removed for maintenance without the valve losing support. For dead-end or tank-bottom service, choose a lug butterfly valve instead.

Which seat material should I choose for a wafer butterfly valve?

EPDM: Best for water, air, and weak chemicals up to +120°C. Most common.
NBR: Good for oils, fuels, and petroleum products.
Viton/FKM: For aggressive chemicals and higher temperatures up to +200°C.

Applications & Use Cases

Water Treatment

Intake, distribution, filter backwash, and disinfection lines.

HVAC & Chilled Water

Cooling tower, chiller, and air-handling unit isolation.

Irrigation & Agriculture

Mainline isolation, pump control, and zone switching.
