Signal Butterfly Valve for Fire Protection

Reguvale Engineering Team · August 3, 2026

In fire sprinkler and suppression systems, you need to know remotely whether a valve is open or closed. A signal butterfly valve does exactly that with a limit switch box.

What a Signal Butterfly Valve Does

A signal butterfly valve has a limit switch box (mechanical or proximity) that gives dry-contact open/close signals to a PLC, DCS or fire alarm panel. If someone closes a valve, the panel knows immediately.

Why Fire Systems Need It

NFPA and many local codes require supervision of isolation valves in sprinkler systems. A closed valve during a fire is a disaster — position feedback prevents it.

How to Specify

Specify: valve size and pressure (e.g. DN100, PN16), limit switch box type (mechanical or inductive), IP rating (IP67 recommended), and whether you need a tamper switch connection.

Reguvale Signal Valves

Reguvale supplies signal butterfly valves with mechanical or proximity switches, IP67 rated, ISO 5211 mounting, in DN50–DN1200. Ask for a quote with your fire system spec.
